San Diego Convention Center (SDCC)

Does the San Diego Convention Center have WiFi?

The San Diego Convention Center has free WiFi available. However, it is only appropriate for tasks that are not bandwidth intensive, such as checking email and web browsing. Also, it is cripplingly slow at 256Kbps and available only in the ground-level lobby areas A-H and Tides Restaurant. Faster Internet speeds in all common areas, including exhibit halls and meeting rooms, is available on a fee for service basis.

How much does WiFi Internet connection cost per day at the San Diego Convention Center?

Exhibitor WiFi/Internet packages at the San Diego Convention Center are quite expensive, especially considering the Internet speeds they offer.

Broadband Internet service at the venue gives you 1 private IP address at $895 (ie - the ability to connect one device), without support for a router. You can add up to 4 additional devices to this package, at a cost of $185 per device.

Dedicated Internet solutions for 5 static IP addresses, with routers supported, are available at different price points based on the speed you choose:

  • 3Mbps speed at $3,495
  • 6Mbps speed at $5,900
  • 10Mbps speed at $7,850
  • 15Mbps speed at $11,700
  • 20Mbps at $15,500

You can also upgrade to 29 static IP addresses, the prices for which start from $995. Higher bandwidth solutions are available but prices are shared only on request. Furthermore, the cost of a switch (limited to 24 ports) is $225. If you require labor/floor work to install your network, be ready to pay $125 per hour.

Keep in mind that all of these prices are at the “Incentive” pricing, necessitating “payment 14 days prior to the 1st day of show move-in”.

As for WiFi, they offer wireless customized hotspots for which prices are available upon request.

On the other hand, third party providers of Internet/WiFi, like Trade Show Internet, can provide you with significant savings (and streamlined ordering) in comparison to the in-house provider. As a result, many people depend on Internet solutions providers like Trade Show Internet for access to reliable, fast Internet.

We offer San Diego Convention Center exhibitors a wide range of event Internet rental solutions at varying rates to fit a multitude of connectivity needs. When taking WiFi speed and device connectivity in account, our rates are significantly lower in comparison to the prices charged by the in-house provider at the SDCC, SmartCity Networks.

How do I get WiFi supplied at the San Diego Convention Center?

Instead of shelling out for the unreasonable prices offered by SmartCity Networks at the San Diego Convention Center, you can upgrade your event experience with our WiFi hotspot rental solutions. The 4G Internet Kit lets you connect up to 15 devices within a 60' x 60' coverage area. These start at $659, and offer reliable Internet speeds of up to 15Mbps on download and 5Mbps on upload. This is clearly more cost effective when compared to the broadband Internet service at the SDCC which starts at $895 (for a single connection), or the 3Mbps dedicated Internet solution which starts at $3,495.

If you are expecting heavy footfall at your booth or have lots of devices you need to support, our 4G Mega Internet Kits is one of the best solutions for exhibitors at the SDCC. The kits offer WiFi service for up to 300 devices and they operate at blazing fast speeds. At a starting price of $2,450, it costs significantly less than the in-house Internet solution at the SDCC, where you pay up to $15,500 for a 20Mbps connection. In comparison, the 4G Mega Internet Kit gives a fast and reliable network speed, up to 80Mbps on downloads and 25Mbps on upload.
